Ah ha… Hush that fuss… More than ten years since their last performance together, Outkast is back. The rap icons are hitting the road to celebrate their 20th anniversary, and LouFest couldn’t be more excited to welcome the dynamic duo of Andre 3000 (aka Possum Aloysius Jenkins, aka Dookie Blossom Gain the 3rd, Funk Crusader, Love Pusher) and Big Boi (aka Daddy Fat Sax, aka Lucious Leftfoot, aka Billy Ocean, aka Francis the Savannah Chitlin Pimp) to Forest Park this fall.
With classic albums like Stankonia and ATLiens, Outkast took Southern rap mainstream and totally turned hip-hop on its head with their experimental edge. Whether it was incorporating elements of house music on their tracks, coming onstage in football pads and wigs, or writing the soundtrack for a movie they starred in, they were always pushing the envelope. Now, after a well-deserved break, Big Boi and Andre are back together for a victory lap.
Returning to the stage together is the most exciting way for us to thank everyone for 20 years of supporting Outkast. -Andre 3000 #Outkast20— Outkast (@Outkast) January 13, 2014
So what can you expect when ATL’s best joins the LouFest party? How about hits for days? “B.O.B.” “Hey Ya!” “Rosa Parks.” They’re covering all the bases on this tour, even bringing out special guests like Killer Mike, Sleepy Brown, and Janelle Monae on some stops. No word yet on what they might have in store for St. Louis, but it goes without saying that each and every Outkast performance is bound to be a one-of-a-kind experience.
Feelin’ cooler than Freddie Jackson sippin’ a milkshake in a snowstorm? (That’s ice cold…) Revisit Outkast’s game-changing 2000 album Stankonia and prepare to get crunk in Forest Park this September.
