The Boys (and Girls!) Are Back In Town…

St. Louis is a city full of legendary rock clubs and rabid music fans, so it’s no surprise that bands keep coming back for more. Some of our favorite LouFest alums are going to be back in town this spring and summer, playing venues like The Duck Room, The Pageant, and Old Rock House. So if you loved their festival sets, get out there and support the artists and your local venues by checking out these shows!

Something tells me they’re going to be at The Pageant for The Flaming Lips this summer…

Phantogram (2012)

After spending the last few years touring and collaborating with The Flaming Lips (2012) and Big Boi, the ever-entrancing Phantogram finally released Voices, their long-awaited sophomore album, in February. Pitchfork called lead single “Fall in Love” an “arena-rattling R&B banger,” and this clip captures all of that synthy, sexy intensity. Can’t get enough of Voices? Phantogram will be back in St. Louis for a show at The Pageant on April 8.

Desert Noises (2013)

Desert Noises just released 27 Ways last month and are hitting the road hard in support of it. How hard are we talking? The band took over Austin by playing a mind-blowing eleven shows in six days. Unfortunately, most cities have to settle for only one show on their spring tour with The Wheeler Brothers, which includes a stop at The Duck Room on April 18.

Local Natives (2013)

Just days after they finish a set of dates with Kings of Leon, the workhorses in Local Natives are kicking off their own headlining tour. If you caught their set at LouFest 2013, you know this band is a force to be reckoned with live. Be sure to catch them at The Pageant with Moses Sumney on April 24 before they disappear into the studio again for the follow up to last year’s Hummingbird.

Lost in the Trees (2011)

When Lost in the Trees played LouFest, they treated Forest Park to a set of sensitive-yet-powerful folk that was unlike anything else we heard that weekend. A few things have changed since then… In February, the band released Past Life, an album full of electric guitars, synths and more upbeat songwriting. Even if you saw them at LouFest 2011, their April 24 stop at Old Rock House is bound to be a completely different experience.

Wild Belle (2013)

No one at LouFest 2013 looked quite as snazzy as Wild Belle. Dressed in blinding white suits and flanked by faux wood-paneled speaker cabinets, the Chicago duo brought a balmy, breezy 70s vibe to the BMI Stage. If you’re still kicking yourself for missing their set, you’ve got another chance to see them when they come to Old Rock House for an all-ages show on May 19.

The Flaming Lips (2012)

Between recording a track-by-track cover of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and making a companion piece for Dark Side of the Moon, it’s easy to forget how great The Flaming Lips can be when they’re performing their own songs. They’ll be back in St. Louis for the first time since LouFest 2012 for a show at The Pageant on June 10. They even have a new stage show this time around, complete with what Wayne Coyne is calling “The Blob Suit.”

Wild Cub (2013)

2013 was a breakout year for Nashville’s Wild Cub and 2014 is shaping up to be even bigger. After extensive touring and the slow-burning success of their debut album Youth, they’re hitting the road again this summer and bringing it to The Duck Room on 7/16. They probably won’t be playing rooms this small for much longer, so catch them here while you can!
